ABOUT

Perry Street Chophouse was born out of a deep love for food and a gentle way of living. We fell in love with Lawrenceville and the local culture. It's our humble effort to bring an elevated option to the heart of the Square.

FOUNDER

Scott MCCRAY

Scott McCray established a commanding presence on Perry Street in 2007 with the opening of McCray's Tavern, and he's dreamed of opening a high-end steakhouse in Downtown Lawrenceville every since. Passionate about quality, Scott is driven by exceptional ingredients and outstanding hospitality. At the helm of multiple award-winning concepts, Scott deeply values the hard work of small farmers and artisans who bring prime cuts and choice harvest to our kitchens, and the hard work of every team member who helps bring an unforgettable experience to every guest.

Scott kerns

A Southerner through and through, LEAD Hospitality Group Partner Scott Kerns has established himself as a force in the Atlanta restaurant scene. He got his start in college, working his way up through bars and restaurants in South Carolina. A proud Gamecock, Kerns observers will find clever references to his Alma Mater at Perry Street Chophouse and other Lead Hospitality Group locations.

Scott Hampton McCray and Scott Harrison Kerns met in Hilton Head, South Carolina while attending the University of South Carolina, where the duo instantly hit it off. They worked together at a local coastal bar in Hilton Head and became involved in the beach bar culture while attending USC. Later, the pair went on to open their own successful food and beverage destinations, including Tiki Tango Hideaway Oasis (McCray) and Carylon’s Gourmet Café (Kerns) in Atlanta, Georgia. By 2017, the Scotts joined forces once again to open their first of many partnered locations: McCray’s Tavern Midtown, in the original space where the first Carylon’s Café was established.

Today, the team emphasizes sourcing from local farmers and using seasonal ingredients—an approach that has become a trademark across their ventures. In 2021, Scott Hampton McCray and Scott Harrison Kerns decided it was time to return to their coastal bar roots and open an approachable neighborhood joint “where locals want to eat every night of the week, and guests leave with lasting food memories.”

Partner

Chef Michael Fuller

Owner Michael Fuller's culinary adventure began 35 years ago on Hilton Head Island, SC. He apprenticed under spirited Swiss Chef George Wieman, learning the basics and gaining an appreciation of acute deails. Fuller's eagerness to learn and grow then took him to Culinary School at Johnson and Wales in Chaleston SC. While attending school he was asked to join the opening team of the renowed Magnolia's under Chef Donald Barickman. Barickman's advanced approach to culinary and management techniques opened up an entirely different world and instilled a life long appreciation for Upscale Southern Cuisine. Fuller then moved to Atlanta in advance of the Olympics and achieved his first Executive Chef position at Beesley’s of Buckhead. His career took off from there working in some of the highest acclaimed restaurant groups in the city. He gained a deep appreciation and expertise working in steakhouses like McKendrick’s, Del Frisco’s and Ray’s Restaurants.

Fuller’s belief that the modern American Steakhouse is the current Fine dining platform led him to the opening of Mac’s Chophouse on the Marietta Square. His relationship with founders Randy & Kelly McCray came organically and developed naturally through a shared passion for elevated food and service.

Fuller is a long time resident of East Cobb with son Michael, now a college student in West Virginia. He is a dedicated father who enjoys time spent watching his son on the baseball field, volunteering with Share Our Strength, American Foundation of Suicide Prevention and the Giving Kitchen.
